Ten years ago this month, the Lauffer family was running the blue Frame Works dragster, looking to run a 200mph pass on the very last drag race. They missed that mark by inches.

It's hard to believe that ten years ago this month, Carlsbad Raceway closed its gates for the very last time. Since 1964, this track has seen it all, from Top Fuel, to Funny Cars, gassers and yes, a whole bunch of fast VWs! The DKP had their very first Drag Day at this site, many years ago. With the cool coastal breezes, racers liked this track for more than a few reason, as it was super close to where they lived. But today, ten years later, this entire site is now all industrial building, and nothing remains of the old track. RIP Carlsbad Raceway.
