Firebird Raceway to reopen as Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park
Popular NHRA track to reopen this October, 2013
It has been announced that the former racing facility in Chandler, Arizona known for 30 years as Firebird International Raceway, plans to reopen this October 12, under a new name and management team. The facility will now be known as Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, will continue to have NHRA drag races, as well as boat races and numerous other motorsports events. It has been reported that Charlie Allen's team will be replaced with a new group, headed up by Dick Hahne, formerly of the Daytona Motor Speeway, along with Bill Schneider. We look forward to returning to this important race track, as it has been closed since May 30 of this year. As you may also know, SpeedWorld, the other 1/4-mile drag strip in the Phoenix area, also closed earlier this year. It is not known if this particular facility will reopen anytime soon.
