Mofoco's 20th Annual VW Bugfest hits Great Lakes Dragaway
Free car show, final opportunity to register to win a 1970 VW Beetle
Bugfest, a VW swap meet, drag race and car show is run and coordinated by Mofoco owner Roy Henning. Henning who purchased the business from his father last year, also is restoring a 1970 Beetle and will give it away – along with partner sponsor WKLH – at the Paul McCartney concert at Miller Park on Tuesday, July 16. Mofoco built similar beetles for McCartney’s 1993 show at Milwaukee County Stadium.
"It's a really nice, drivable vintage Beetle," says Henning. People can register to win the car at Bugfest or soon through mofoco.com and WKLH.com. Bugfest car owners and drivers get in free. Tickets for those 15 years and older are $15. Kids ages 10-15 are $10 and under 10 are free. Other events include: - Free camping on Friday night July 12th for Bugfest participants - Live Music from Noon - 3 p.m. - "Paint a Bus" activity for the kids. - Hula Hoop Contest------Winner receives one Paul McCartney ticket and a chance to win the 1970 Mofoco Beetle - Live remote from AM1250 WSSP - Bill Michael's Cruiser will be on site for "Bill Michael's Night at the Races." -96.5 WKLH Van Stop from Noon-2. This will be the final opportunity to register to win the Mofoco 1970 VW Beetle Mofoco, founded in 1970, is the only company in the world that manufactures aircooled Volkswagen cylinder heads entirely in the United States.
