Victory and a World Championship for VW at the Rally France for Ogier
France’s Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia clinched the World Championship title at their home rally in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) for the Volkswagen brand. The French duo driving the Polo R WRC had already secured victory in the driver and co-driver rankings after the first stage. Meanwhile Volkswagen made history by taking the WRC title. Volkswagen is the first maunfacturer to have their driver and co-driver take the World Championship crown in their very first season. As the eleventh rally of the season drew to a close Ogier/Ingrassia were able to celebrate once again, this time with Volkswagen development chief Dr Heinz-Jakob Neußer, as they had also won the Rally France. For both men it was already their seventh WRC victory for Volkswagen in the current season. Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala/Miika Anttila took third place overall in France driving in the second Polo R WRC.
