Hyerstay Sets new NHRA G/Dragster Record at 9.04!
It's been a long time since a VW-powered dragster held the NHRA G/Dragster record, but all that has changed, thanks to Brian Hyerstay. Today in Woodburn, Oregon, Hyerstay broke both ends of the existing record with a 9.04/143.10 pass. As you may recall, Hyerstay has held this record before, but over the past seven years, has devoted his time developing a new, double overhead cam setup for a 1700cc(Type 1)engine. Hyerstay shattered this record by lowering the existing 9.29 mark, but still feels there's an 8-second pass just around the corner. At present, the dragster remains 30-lbs heavy for the class.
