USFRA's World of Speed event cancelled for 2013
After Tuesday's night thunderstorm, the USFRA has to cancelled next week's World of Speed event.
In a surprising move, today, the Utah Salt Flat Racing Association's 2013 World of Speed event, originally scheduled for September 7-10, has been cancelled, due to wet track conditions. Apparently, after Tuesday night's strong rain storm, the portion of the salt that is used for this speed event, is now under water. And even though the weather forecast looks dry for the next 7 days, still the USFRA decided that the salt would not be able to displace that amount of water in time for this weekend's event. This is a shame, as over 30 VW-powered machines (and many others), were planning to attend this annual event. There is no rain date for this event.
