Irwindale Speedway — Home to the (VW) Bug-In and Drag Day Sold
New land owner will maintain the planned 2014 racing season
As reported by Jerry Garrett World Press.com on October 2, Irwindale Speedway located in southern California has been sold to developers. The new owners are reported to be Lindom Properties of Arcada, Calif., for $22 million. The 66 acre facility contains an oval track and an 1/8th mile drag strip. Lincom Properties specialist in "real estate investment development, property and portfolio management." There is a possibility that this land could be used for a future Walmart, but that has not been confirmed. What we do know is that the racing schedule for 2014 will remain as currently planned, but beyond that, anything is possible. Of course, it is our hope that this southern California facility remains open to racing, so our three VW events will remain local.
